Life is sweet – and getting even sweeter – for the pop world's favorite girl-next-door. Sure, Hilary Duff starred in a monstrously huge TV show but that's, like, so yesterday 'cause Hilary's exercising her right to change her mind and act her age. No more trying to fit a circle into a square. With her first real pop-rock album, Metamorphosis, and the #1 single "So Yesterday," Hilary is finally free to be who she wants to be.
"Change is a very important and natural thing," says Hilary. "We called the album Metamorphosis because it's about changes that everybody experiences. It's not just about me, but it is very personal. The change might seem a little sudden because most people are used to seeing me as a character through Lizzie McGuire and movie roles that I played. So this music is a good way to get everyone to know the real me. Everyone evolves and changes."A triple-threat talent, Hilary has become a music, film and television phenomenon thanks to an unbroken string of hits that began with her starring role in the Disney Channel Original Series Lizzie McGuire, the record-breaking #1 show in its timeslot. Hilary made her singing debut on that hit sit-com, lending her fresh vocals and sunny style to "I Can’t Wait" from the RIAA-certified platinum Lizzie McGuire Television Soundtrack. In her motion picture debut, Hilary co-starred with Frankie Muniz in this summer's action-adventure hit Agent Cody Banks. Next came singing and starring roles in The Lizzie McGuire Movie, in which Hilary played – prophetically enough – an American tourist mistaken for a huge singing star.
Proving that life imitates art, Hilary’s singing career is exploding on Top 40 radio, MTV and Top 200 retail charts. Metamorphosis – her amazingly appealing debut solo album of 13 songs – shipped well in excess of gold with 800,000 copies on August 26, 2003 and charted #2 on the Billboard 200 its first week of release. Its debut single, "So Yesterday," became an instant #1 retail hit at Walmart.com, and stormed the pop singles charts on July 29, hitting the #1 spot after quickly making top-request waves at national Top 40 radio and on MTV’s signature program "Total Request Live," where Hilary's "Why Not" music video (from the RIAA-certified platinum The Lizzie McGuire Movie Soundtrack) had already been a Top 10 staple for months.
MTV also hosted a prestigious premiere for the "So Yesterday" music video on its July 21 presentations of Making The Video and TRL All-Star Backyard BBQ and featured Hilary in MTV Diary. Duff recently was a presenter at both the MTV Video Music Awards and the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, where she accepted the trophy for "Favorite TV Show" on behalf of Lizzie McGuire. And although there’s not one molecule of space left for another top award her shelf, "So Yesterday" has become the #1 most-streamed video on AOL.
"I’ve always sung, ever since I could talk," says Hilary. "At home, at school, in the choir, everywhere. But about two years ago I decided to be a real singer, and started working with really cool singers, musicians and songwriters. Best of all, I started working in the studio, experimenting and putting material together. I’ve really fallen in love with the studio. I just know that a lot of my fans relate to the album."
What kind of music can fans expect from Hilary on Metamorphosis? A chameleon-like variety of changing moods, from the romantic ballad "Where Did I Go Right?" to the ultimate break up song, "So Yesterday." From the tough-talkin' "Party Up" to the hard rockin' "Little Voice."
"The music on the album is a little different from the pop songs everyone’s heard from me before, because Metamorphosis has all the kinds of music I like to listen to," Hilary explains. "There are a lot of different sounds, from rock to eletronic – with a whole range of tempos from some deep, slow songs, to some high-energy rock songs to give me a boost. Everybody goes through different moods and different feelings and sometimes when you put on your favorite song it makes you feel a little bit better."
The 13 pop-rock songs on Metamorphosis were produced, arranged, written and mixed by the very best in the business. The album’s behind-the-scenes-talent includes Charlie Midnight (Joe Cocker, James Brown, Joni Mitchell) who contributed to nine tracks; The Matrix (Avril Lavigne, Christina Aguilera), the producing masterminds behind "So Yesterday," "Where Did I Go Right?" and "The Math"; Chico Bennett (Madonna, Usher, Destiny’s Child); Matthew Gerrard (Nick Carter); John Shanks (Michelle Branch); Kara DioGuardi (Celine Dion, Enrique Iglesias); singer-songwriter-producer Meredith Brooks; plus some of the best pop-rock musicians anywhere.
"Can I tell you how awesome everyone’s been to work with? They are the very best writers and producers and musicians ever, and they’ve been so open to my opinions," Hilary says. "It was important to me that all the songs we recorded really meant something special to me personally. I got to talk with some of the writers and say, 'You know, I feel like this . . .' and they really got it, which is so cool. I loved the whole process. It’s so exciting. I love that the whole album really relates to me and my life."
Two songs were special contributions from Hilary’s number one idol: her talented big sister, Haylie Duff. "Since she knows me better than anyone else in the world, Haylie wrote 'Sweet Sixteen,' a really fun song that totally relates to my life right now. She also came up with 'Inner Strength' and it's really beautiful. Very empowering and uplifting."
Speaking of idols, here's what another one has to say: "Hilary is just completely a light to the world," no less an authority than Britney Spears told Popstar! magazine. "So beautiful and so incredibly sweet. Her music is amazing . . . she should just be herself and never change."
It's difficult to comprehend all that Hilary Duff has accomplished in the past few years. Prior to Metamorphosis, Hilary had already sold 2.2 million albums, spent six weeks in the Billboard Top 10 and earned two platinum album awards. She has starred in one #1 television series, two hit movies, and has already made two more major films (20th Century Fox’s Cheaper By The Dozen with Steve Martin, and Warner Bros.' A Cinderella Story) to be released later this year. Plus, not one but two television specials will honor the big day she turns "Sweet Sixteen."
Not bad for someone who really just wants her driver's license.

The Red Cross set up donation locations in two HMV stores in Edmonton,AB. Anyone who made a donation of $5 or more to the Tsunami Relief fund was entered in a drawing to win the last pair of front row tickets plus meet and greets to Hilary's sold out show at the Rexall Place. In one day they were able to raise $6284.00

Hey Guys!! I am soo ready for the road again. I didn't think that I would say that so soon. But, I really miss performing. There have been a few events that Hay and I have attended but I am ready to see you guys again. I am really excited, this is going to be the first time that I spend Thanksgiving in California with my family. Next week is going to be so cool. I am going to have a performance at the Christmas tree lighting in Rockefeller Center in the great state of New York. I cant wait! We're starting rehearsal on Saturday, so I guess that's when everything is going to start to pick-up again. My schedule for December is pretty full. Hi everybody! Wow!! I have offically finshed my 'Most Wanted Tour' and I am on VACATION for a whole month, can you guys believe that?! I can not believe how supportive everyone has been during this tour. I'm so happy that I finally get some time off but I'm also a little sad that it had to come to an end. On the brighter side, I get to stay home with my mom, dad and Hay and just be 'regular'. My dad flew in from Texas last night and it really felt great to be able to sit-down and have dinner at the table together not on the bus or in a hotel. This month, I really just want to relax as much as possible because in December my vacation is over. I actually can't wait to get back out there and see ya'll. I have so much fun out there I sometimes forget this is actually my job! Nothing too fantastic will be happening any time soon. I want to thank everybody who voted for me for the Kids Choice Awards. After I accepted the award I rushed to the airport to fly to Paris. In Europe I went to Paris, Cologne, London and Rotterdam in one week. Right now I'm getting ready to start my new movie "A perfect Man" in Toronto next week. Hi guys!!! I just finished packing and we're about to leave to catch our flight back to LA. It's so weird because here in Tokyo it's already Monday morning and I just talked to Haylie and it's still Sunday in LA. I'm so excited to go home. After having 12 interviews and photo shoots yesterday we finished the day with an amazing traditional dinner. Hi guys!! I've been travelling since my album has been released on Aug 26th. I want to thank everyone who got my album and came to visit me at my signings in LA and NY - it was so crazy. After the VMA's I flew to Hawaii to shoot my "Birthday Special" for The WB and it was so awsome. I gave my first live concert in Hawaii and the crowd was amazing. Good morning Everybody!! What a beautiful Sunday morning it is and I'm not busy today!!! Yesterday was crazy, my stylist Claudio came over in the morning and we had to go through tons of clothes for my NY and Hawaii trip this coming week. I'm sooo nervous because my album is coming out in two days and I hope everyone will enjoy it. My schedule will be crazy this week, I'm signing autographs on Tuesday morning at the Virgin Megastore in Burbank, after that I'm getting on a plane to New York and arrive there around midnight. I'm shooting my special for "The WB" and it will be my first public performance with my band. Crazy week, isn't it?? Hi Everybody!!! Well, I survived the night shoots on the "Cinderella Story" from last week and this week I have to get up really early since my call times are at 7 am in the morning. I've been rehearsing with my band in the evenings and I can't wait to perform live. The musicians in my band are so cool and we're having a lot of fun. I was so excited to get a "Teen Choice Award" and I want to thank all you guys for your amazing support!! By the way, a couple of my friends told me that there are a lot of "fake" Hilary's in chat rooms spreading stupid rumors about me or being rude to fans. Believe me, I don't have the time to be in chat rooms and I've never been in any chat rooms. Right now I'm writing my diary only for my own website and for AOL, anything else you see or hear is fake!! Good morning everybody!!! It's so beautiful in New York right now. I had such a great time yesterday at the VideoNow launch event at Toys R Us Times Square and want to thank everyone who came by to see me. I also wanted to thank Hasbro and Toys R Us for being such wonderful hosts. Can you believe that I had the rest of the day off? I couldn't believe it but I enjoyed going shopping and spending time with my mom for the rest of the day. Hi everybody!!! Last Friday I flew to New York to co-host the MTV "Backyard BBQ" in Old Bridge, New Jersey. It was so hot that day but we had a lot of fun as you saw on TV. Happy 4th of July weekend everybody!!! I'm enjoying a few days off from the movie set. My Dad came out from Texas to spend the weekend with us. On Thursday night I drove with my mom and dad and "little dog" to Santa Barbara because I had a photo shoot on Friday at the "Return of Freedom" horse ranch north of Santa Barbara. This was part of a coffee table book about celebrities and their horses in support of the "Return of Freedom" charity. I was back in LA in the evening and got to spend the rest of the day with my friends celebrating 4th of July. It's really hot in LA right now but I love hot weather. Hi Everybody!! I just got home from another photo shoot for my upcoming album release. I had so much fun this time because the photographer Sheryll and her crew were totally crazy. I had a pretty busy week preparing and rehearsing for the "Cinderella" movie. I had to try on all the wardrobe, try different hair styles and make up etc. My single "So Yesterday" got added to KIISS FM in LA and when I heard it the first time on the radio I was freaking out. Hi everybody!! I'm back home in LA, wow, that was a busy trip!! After Tampa we flew to Ft Lauderdale and visited the radio station Y100 and I had such a blast. After the meet & greet we drove to Miami and checked into our hotel right on the beach. I had probably the best sushi in my life with my mom, my manager and "Scotty" our radiopromoter. If you guys like sushi you have to try "Hamachi carpaccio" (I hope I spelled it right), it's yellow tail with thinnly sliced jalapeno and it's so yummy. The next morning we had to go to Denver for a quick stop at another radio station and continued to Seattle in the afternoon. Good Morning Everybody!!! I had to get up early and pack for my crazy trip over the next four days. I'm going to New York today, tomorrow afternoon I'll fly to Tampa, after Tampa to Ft Lauderdale, Miami, Denver, Seattle, Portland and Sacramento. Isn't that crazy???? It will be a lot of fun as well because I'm visiting radio stations in these cities to promote my upcoming single. On Friday I finished the recording for my album and I can't wait for you guys to hear it. Yesterday I did a photo shoot together with Bow Wow for the cover of "Teen People". Him and his mom are really cool and he was teasing me because he just got his drivers license and I still have to wait till fall. Good morning everybody!! It's kinda early and I have to get ready for a "Today" show interview. Yesterday I was in the studio with Meredith Brooks working on my new song "Party Up" for the album. It has been a very interesting week for me last week with all that crazy press out there. It made me very sad to read some of your questions in regards if I'm only doing it for the money or if I'm getting greedy. Every Disney Channel show from "Even Steven" to "That's so Raven" and "Lizzie McGuire" has only 65 episodes. Lizzie continues to be on the Disney Channel for a few more years and the decision about another Lizzie movie was not based on money it had more to do with the working enviroment. I love being Lizzie and maybe there is another movie in the future. As you guys know I just finished the "Cheaper by the Dozen" movie and I'm starting the "Cinderella Story" in about four weeks. My album should be hopefully finished by next week and will be released in September by Disney's Buena Vista Records. For the album release I'm planning an autograph signing tour in about 5 or 6 cities to be able to meet as many of you as possible. BTW, thanks for your ongoing support on TRL, you guys rock!! Thank you so much Toronto!!! I had such a great time at the signing today at Wal-Mart and couldn't believe how many people showed up, there must have been thousands, wow!!! Hey you guys!! Well, there is a lot to tell but I only have a little time because I have to go to the set in a few minutes. Last Saturday was the world premiere of the "Lizzie McGuire Movie" at the El Capitan in Hollywood and I had to fly in from Northern California to make it. It was unbelievable and I want to thank everybody who was waiting outside at the red carpet - you guys are awsome!!! The day before my music video premiered on MTV's TRL and I'm telling you it was weird seeing myself on MTV. Good morning everybody!! I'm just getting ready to do my school work with my teacher. Today I have to go to "Access Hollywood" to co-host the show with Skylar Woods and I think it will air this weekend. Yesterday I was working on my documentary and the camera crew was following me to my meeting at NTD apparel, which is the company who will put out my apparel line in spring 2004. I'm actually helping design the styles, pick the fabrics and colors together with two cool fashion designers. It's gonna be really cool because they want to capture my style and ideas. I hope you all had a fun April fool's day today!! Sorry that I haven't been writing more often but I've been so busy. Last weekend I went to Houston, Texas for a festival. The days before that I started my rehearsals for the "Cheaper by the Dozen" movie, which actually starts shooting April 15th. It's so cool, I got to meet Steve Martin who is also in the movie and he is so awesome and funny. Today I started shooting a little documentary showing a lot of behind the scene stuff of me at photo shoots, video shoots, hair and make up,going shopping and at home. It's pretty exciting. Hi Everybody!! I got so many questions from you guys and I'm trying to answer them as much as I can. A lot of you asked me about Elisabeth Smart. I was so happy when I heard on the news that she is alive and back with her family. That shows you that all the prayer's and faith do help. I think we all have to be very careful about strangers and when you're in public or even at home. Another question I read was about charities. I'm very involved with charity work for the "Kids with a Cause" charity. The mission of this organization is to provide support and offer encouragement to children who, through no fault of their own, suffer from sickness, poverty, lack of education, abandonment, neglect and/or abuse. I was supposed to go to Orlando today but decided not to fly because of the recent events. Hey everybody!! On Saturday I went to the premiere of "Agent Cody Banks" and it was really amazing. That was the first time I saw myself on the "Big Screen" and I love the way the movie looks. I will try to sneak into a movie theatre on March 14th when the movie opens to see how the audience likes it. You guys should definitely check it out it has a lot of action and fun for the whole family in it. Later on today I'm going into the recording studio working on my album and tomorrow I have a foto shooting coming up. I couldn't believe that I had to do 80 five minute interviews on Saturday for the Agent Cody Banks press event. But I also had a lot of fun because all the journalists were really nice to me. On Monday I was shooting my music video for the upcoming single "Why Not". I was performing all day on a rooftop in Downtown LA. Oh bye the way, the contest winner from the Radio Disney promotion Kyle was with his family at the video shoot and we got to hang out a little bit between the scenes. Hi guys!!! It's been crazy between all the interviews and promotion for my upcoming movies "Agent Cody Banks" and "The Lizzie McGuire Movie". Happy Valentines Day!!! Sorry that I haven't been writing in my diary lately but I have been so busy recording my album. Today I actually recorded a Disney All-Star version of "Circle of Life" which will be part of the Special Edition DVD release of "The Lion King". I'm singing this song together with Raven, Orlando, Christy Romano, Anneliese, Kylah Pratt, AJ Trauth and Tia, Tamara and Tahj Mowry. We're also shooting a music video for that song on Tuesday which should be pretty cool. I've been rehearsing my new songs almost everyday and can't wait till my record comes out in September. WOW!! Thanks to all of you who came to one of my signings on Saturday, I was really blown away and couldn't believe the huge lines. I was scheduled for each mall to stay for an hour and half but since I wanted to sign as many as possible and stayed for two hours. I felt so bad when I had to leave and couldn't get to everybody, but I had to go to another event that evening. I had so much fun talking to you guys and taking pictures with you.I will try to do more signings by the time my album comes out and hope to see everyone who didn't get a chance to meet me this time. Hey guys!! What a weekend. Yesterday I had to fly back from Orlando early in the morning and I wish I could have stayed a little longer. It was my first time in Orlando and my first time at Disney World. I couldn't believe how big it is. Hopefully next year I get to go for a whole week to see all the attractions and different parks. I arrived yesterday late afternoon in Vancouver and now I'm back on the Lizzie movie set. Gotta go, xoxo hil*

Hey guys!! What a crazy day I had today. I flew overnight from Vancouver to Orlando, arrived at 5.30 am in Orlando and we went straight to Disney World where we were taping the ABC Christmas Parade. We had to rehearse the performance really early before they opened the park for public. I had a fun day and met Regis and Kelly, Jump 5, Heather Headley and many more. After the show I went on a couple of rides with my manager. We did the Aerosmith Rock'n Roll ride twice, it's so fast I love it!! I was really scared in the Tower of Terror and I was screaming the whole time. After that I went back to the hotel and crashed. Tomorrow I have an early flight back to Vancouver. xoxo hil*

Thanksgiving I've spent with my mom, my sister Haylie and a couple of my friends who came to visit me in Vancouver. We cooked together, had turkey and pumpkin pie and went for a swim. Nov 10th, Topanga Canyon

Hey guys!! I had to get up really early because my call time was 8.30 am and it was in the middle of Topanga Canyon. It was a beautiful day and I had a lot of fun shooting the video with Lil Romeo. I got to meet his dad Master P as well. I had pictures taken from the set and also did a little behind the scene video which will be posted on the website in a few days. Hey guys it was another rainy day in Vancouver. Besides shooting my movie I did a lot of school work today with my new teacher on set. My personal teacher Marsha broke her ankle in Rome and had to fly back to LA. And guess what, my new teacher here in Vancouver just broke her toes, I promise it wasn't me!! But isn't that crazy?? After dinner I will go swimming with Ashley from the Lizzie show and her friend Molly. Oh bye the way we're shooting the music video now in LA which means I get to go home tomorrow. Today was my first shooting day in Vancouver and I got to meet the new film crew. It was a rainy day in Vancouver and I hope it doesn't stay like that for the next five weeks I'm here. Nov 4, I'm in LA!!!

I'm hoooommmmeeeee!!!! I got back to LA on Saturday just in time to see all my friends. I'm only here till tomorrow morning. I'm gonna miss all my friends and family but I'm also excited to go to Vancouver and finish shooting the Lizzie movie. I will be there till Christmas. Yesterday I went shopping and just hung out at my house. It felt so good sleeping in my own bed. Next weekend I'm shooting a video with Lil Romeo in Vancouver for the song "Tell me a Story" of my Holiday Album. I'm a little nervous but excited at the same time. Hey guys, whats up? i am sorry i have not updated the diary for a couple of days but i have been going out of my mind trying to pack, work and get ready to leave Rome to go to L.A. for 3 days and then jet back to Vancouver to finish the movie. Hey guys, today was another crazy day at work. Uhmm I had a late call time and I got to ride in a cool buggy car for the movie.I hope everybody's day was cool. This is our eleventh day eating at the Hard Rock and they gave me a t-shirt! Hey everyone, Well to we filmed at the spanish steps. It was so cool,there are alot of little shops all around and very cool things to see! There were alot of people when we were filming so it took a long time, but it was still fun. I just got home from work and i'm getting kind of hungry so i think we might go to the Hard Rock Cafe' tonight for dinner. It is so funny because I love the food there, so we go there alot and it is right down the street from our hotel. We like know everyone who works there.Hehe! Oh My God, today when we were filming there was this little bug flying around everyone and i was lauging and it flew in my mouth and i swallowed it!!! Oct 21, Rainy Day in Rome

My call time was at 7.10 am in the morning and I had to get up really early to get ready. It was a rainy day today in Rome but we got to film at the famous "Spanish Steps" and I also got to sqeeze in some time to go window shopping. There are so many cool stores in Rome and I wish I had more time. We got back to the hotel around 6pm and I went with my mom to have dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe around the corner from our hotel. Now I'm ready to go to bed because I have to get up at 5.30 am in the morning!!!!!! xoxo hil*

Still here inn Rome!! Well today I did not have to go to work so some of the kids on the show and my sister when to this beatiful park! We rented a rowboat and chilled on the lake for about an hour and walked around it was a rockin' day! I had to do school early this morning and now i am back at the hotel with my sister and Ashlie who plays "Kate" on "Lizzie McGuire" we are going to hang-out with lots of kids tonight so i have got to go and get some rest and finish my homework!!! well bye for now! xoxo hil*

Buonosera friends!! I have been practicing my Italian!! I am still in Rome doing the "Lizzie McGuire Movie", it is great here! The weather is great, people are nice and shopping is perfect, but i am missing my friends and family. Sorry i have not written in my diary for awhile, it has been crazy ever since the first day of filming. Today we were just filming at the Trevi Fountain, i also threw a coin in and that meas i will return someday. I am really happy because my Christmas album came out a couple of days ago! Oct 7th. Rome, Italy

Today we got up grabbed some breakfast at the hotel. My family, teach and I went to drive around the city and saw all of the famous monuments in Rome, e.g. the Vatican and the Sistine Chappel. My favorite monument was the altar of the nations called “the wedding cake”. After a couple of hours we got back to the hotel and did some more school work and wrote some cool postcards to my friends. I have to start packing soon, because tomorrow night we’re leaving for London.

Oct 6th. Rome, Italy

I woke up fairly early in the morning and had to go the doctor since I’m required to have a check-up before filming a movie. After my check-up I had 4 hours of school and then rehearsal from 5:30-7:15. I was really tiered but hungry too, we met up with my music manager Andre and my web master Martin and their friend Manou. We had a wonderful Italian meal (I even tried some octopus and squid! Ahhh! ) . My family and I went back to the hotel and my sister and I watched I am Sam, and went to sleep.

Oct 5th: Arrival in Paris

It was really late when we arrived in Paris and we were really hungry once we got to the hotel. We found a cool restaurant and when we sat down we saw the most magnificient few of the Eiffel Tower. It didn’t really look that big from far away but the next day when we were shooting at the Eiffel Tower for the Disney Channel in France it was huge.We went to the second level and had a beautiful view of Paris and we were lucky because it a beautiful sunny day. After a two hour shoot at the Eiffel Tower we went on a boat cruise on the Saine River and we saw many beautiful sights, like Notre Dame, the Luvre and many more.In the evening we had to rush to the airport because we had to catch a plane to Rome, Italy. We arrived very late and tried to find an open restaurant.
